Since moving from Dallas to Austin, dog rescue has become a huge part of my life. I adopted two retired racing greyhounds and slowly* (who am I kidding, *quickly) became a full-fledged crazy dog lady. For the last three years, I've been the foster coordinator for Greyhound Pets of America, through which I've gotten to meet so many people who are so passionate about helping dogs. Melissa & I bonded over our mutual love of sighthounds & mutual hatred of Central Texas allergies. We started walking dogs at AAC & the idea for #1dog1hour was hatched!

Melissa Massello DuBeau
I rescued my first stray kitten in 7th grade & was hooked, much to my parents' dismay. Hanging at the mall as a teen, I'd be in the pet store springing the puppies loose & giving them a chance to get play time -- 1Dog1Hour in the making -- while my friends flirted with boys. That habit eventually led to adopting my puppy mill dog: an Italian Greyhound/Whippet mix named Dante. Because of D, I was exposed to the important work rescues & shelters do, and after moving from Boston to Austin, I started volunteering with local greyhound rescues, where I met & became fast friends with Catelyn! It's also how I got to learn the ins-and-outs of volunteering with AAC shelter dogs as a T-Touch practitioner in training.
